Congratulations to the Lakers on their victory in the Cortland tournament.  The Lakers went 5 and 0 to win the title.  Skaneateles began the day at 9am by defeating a very scrappy, tough-minded Groton team.  The Lakers then faced off with an over-sized Susquehannah Valley team.  The Lakers used their suffocating full court press to build an 18-point lead in the first half.  The second half was more of the same as the Lakers came away with a big victory over SV.  The next game for the Lakers came against a familiar opponent in Lyons.  Skaneateles started out slow in the game but again opened up a big second half lead and proved to be too much for the Lions from Lyons to handle.  The playoff round began at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.  The Lakers faced off with Walton (not Bill).  The Lakers were under-sized in this contest as well but their athleticism won the day and they ended up defeating Walton by seven.  In the final the Lakers faced another familiar opponent in league rival Bishop Grimes.  Grimes played the Lakers tough in the first half and in a back and forth contest had a two-point lead at the half.  Mike Stone had a nice performance from Grimes but the Lakers pulled away in the last few minutes with some clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to take the title home.  Great job guys!
